A plant for the production of sodium hypochlorite used to purify drinking water was opened in Moscow.
The event was attended by the mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, who noted that the new enterprise meets all international environmental safety standards.
According to the mayor, the plant will make the water supplied to the Muscovites safe and clean. At the same time the opening of the enterprise will allow Moscow to completely abandon the use of chlorine for water purification. Sodium hypochlorite is safer in this regard, since when it is used in water, less harmful impurities are formed. At the same time, according to some data, since 2012 in Moscow, and so do not use chlorine for water purification. As the director of Mosvodokanal noted, the new plant will produce hypochlorite without any impurities.
As uznayvse.ru learned, this is the first such enterprise in Russia. The construction of the plant took four years.
