Main results of the Second World War
The Second World War that broke out in 1939,threatened not only the existence of democracy as such, but also civilization as a whole. Today, the results of the Second World War are largely overestimated, new facts are being declassified and new facts are being published that allow us to re-evaluate the events of the past in a new way. Nevertheless, one thing remains the same: after the war the world changed, and these changes became irreversible.
The results of World War II needto consider in different planes, as all aspects of the life of society and states were affected. Huge human sacrifices, unprecedented destruction, the horror of the experience - the legacy left after the Nazi criminal actions.
The most important were the military results of the Secondworld war. First of all, the complete rout and unconditional surrender of the aggressive military bloc of Germany, Japan, Italy, whose governments did not hide their desire to divide the world, unify it and use the resources for their own purposes. Fascism, which was implanted in the occupied peoples, as an alternative to the adopted democratic and communist ways, was completely destroyed. The colonial system was cracking at the seams, which became a stumbling block in the foreign policy of the leading states before the war. In the course of military operations, the professionalism of the Red Army was evaluated, successful strategic operations were developed and carried out, a galaxy of talented generals was singled out whose spirit was brought up in the harsh conditions of hard times. As shown by the results of the Second World War, 72 countries took part in the bloody slaughter. The territories of 40 states of three continents were destroyed: Europe, Africa, and Asia.
Nevertheless, the results of World War II were wornnot only military nature, as it turned out, the war stimulated the restructuring of the world's economic systems, contributed to the resuscitation of industrial sectors that experienced a deep pre-war crisis, placed priorities in the might and aspirations of individual states, and became the cause of the subsequent "cold war". Let us examine in detail the economic results of the Second World War.
During the period of military operations in Europethe US industry was gaining momentum. Deliveries under Lend-Lease and other similar states provided the opportunity for the United States not only to fully pay off its external debt, but also to become the world's main creditor. At the end of the war, draft programs that stimulated the economies of the participating countries were submitted for consideration, one of such programs was the Marshal Plan. On the one hand, it allowed in the shortest possible time to bring the economy of the destroyed countries out of a deep crisis, and on the other, strengthened the US dollar as a world currency.
World financial structures were created, oneof which is the IMF, the European Payments Union, the export of European countries has been rebuilt, the main interest has been placed on industry and the products it produces. European countries adopted the Bretton Woods agreements signed at the end of 1944. The agreements envisaged the implementation of a program for the creation of a world monetary system that would allow currency conversion and equate the monetary means of the leading states with a gold equivalent. This principle laid the foundations of the monetary system, which is still in use throughout the world.
Refusing the proposed assistance under the planMarshall, the Soviet Union condemned him, regarding it as a rude interference in the internal life of the country. Similar actions were carried out by the countries of the European East. The economy was resuscitated by the USSR independently, without outside help, by placing a stake on its own resources. In addition, the USSR provided financial support to the countries of the European East, in which the communist regime was established.
