On Tuesday, November 6, it became known about personnel changes in the Russian Ministry of Defense.
Today, at a meeting with the Governor of the Moscow Region, Head of State Vladimir Putin announced that Sergei Shoigu was appointed as the new Minister of Defense. The governor of the Moscow region, the former head of the Emergencies Ministry and the general of the Russian army recommended the president to appoint the Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev to this post. And the decision to dismiss the now former Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov, Vladimir Putin, was taken personally.
It is worth noting that, as the head of the defense department, he did not have a military rank and was considered a “civilian minister”.
