Second generation IZH "heel"
The lineup of IZH "Oda"
Izhevsk designers began to develop a basica car of its own design already in the early 70's. However, the development and mastering went with great difficulty. The new car under the index IZh-2126 "Oda" began to be produced in small batches only in 1990. To load the production all this time produced "Moskvich 412" and cargo-and-passenger 2715, better known as IZH "heel" (another common nickname of delivery cars).
When designing the IZH "Oda" designers laidseveral body variants and drive types. One option was a new IZH "heel", under the designation "Ode" version. The car was produced in two versions - with a body pick-up (index model 27171) and a full-fledged closed cargo compartment (index model 2717). The pickup version always enjoyed less demand and its share in the production program of the plant did not exceed 20-25 percent. The first cars "Ode-version" were shipped to dealer centers in 1997.
In small series the all-wheel drive heel - IZH 27174 "Hunter" was produced. Distinctions of the car were transmission units, borrowed from Tolyatti "Niva", and an elongated cabin.
Changes in suspension
IZH 2717 "heel" was created on the platformstandard car with a hatchback body and inherited many parts and parts from it. Due to the significantly increased load capacity and the changed load on the axles, the suspension of the machine has undergone considerable modification.
Front suspension "heel" IZH has received morerigid springs. The general principle of suspension and rack and pinion steering remained unchanged. The rear suspension was a completely different scheme. On the passenger version, the rear suspension was similar to the classic VAZ suspension - the rear axle was attached to four levers and equipped with an additional Panar thrust. The rear suspension of the IZH "heel" machine was almost identical to a similar rear wheel drive "Muscovites" assembly. Instead of springs and levers in the suspension used leaf springs.
Thanks to the modified suspension it was possible to bringThe load capacity of the machine is up to 650 kg while maintaining a high ground clearance (about 23 cm). The pickups had even more load-carrying capacity - up to 750 kg. Machines were equipped with tires designed for high load. The ground clearance allowed using IZH "heel" on roads with poor coverage, for example in rural areas.
The braking system has not undergone any changes in comparison with a passenger car. The front wheels were equipped with disk mechanisms, the rear wheels with drum.
The cargo compartment had a removable top. This decision was dictated by the features of the assembly line, on which it was impossible to put the high body of the Izhevsk pie. The same solution was used in the design of the first generation of "patty" IZH.
The rear door on the upper section of the compartment is liftable,To facilitate opening and fixing in the open position, pneumatic stops are provided in the structure. The lower part of the cargo compartment had a folding board.
In addition to the classical metal compartment, there exist isothermal versions. Pick-up trucks instead of rigid steel tops were equipped with a canvas awning and arcs.
The machine was equipped with several types of engines. All engines IZH "patty" worked on gasoline, diesel serial cars were few. The Ufa 83-strong UZAM 3317 (with a working volume of almost 1.7 liters) and the Zhiguli 74-strong VAZ 2106 (1.598 liters capacity) were most often met.
The gearbox had five speeds ahead, alltransmission with synchronizers. For a while the VAZ engine was equipped with a gearbox 21074, but then the boxes were unified. For this purpose, a transition plate was developed, which allowed to put the Izhevsk box on the VAZ engine.
A small number of cars (mainly models 27174) were equipped with a 64-horsepower diesel VAZ-343 (engine capacity 1,796 liters).
Discontinuation of production
The main reason for stopping the production of carsfamily "Ode" was the introduction on the territory of the Russian Federation of the standards of toxicity of the exhaust "Euro 2". The layout of the body and under the hood of the Oda family did not allow the placement of engines with fuel injection systems. The modification of the body or the reconfiguration of the engine were deemed economically unprofitable. Therefore, at the end of 2005, the production of cars on the platform of IZH "Oda" ceased.
The latest version of "Moskvich" ("patty")
To load production capacity andmeeting the existing demand after the termination of the Oda, a hybrid model IZH 25175 was created. The car received the front end from VAZ-2104 (to the cargo hold), the rear part remained Izhevskaya. The cargo compartment could be equipped with a lifting door and a side, or two swinging doors, at the request of the customer. The release of such hybrids lasted until 2012.
The big plus of the design was the use ofa large number of nodes and parts from VAZ cars. This made it possible to simplify and reduce the cost of maintenance and repair of the car. It was possible to improve the corrosion resistance of the body by introducing the cataphoretic method of priming the body. At the same time, many owners noted less comfortable interior and sluggish steering.
