So what is a “screenshot of the screen”? The word “screenshot” is translated from English as “screen shot”, and in official texts this phrase is most often used, and “screenshot” is a slang term that is commonly used in informal communication.
The screenshot shows what you see on the screen of your monitor when you take a picture. It is also possible to take a picture not of the entire screen, but of a certain area or window. The screenshots are useful in that they help the specialist to see what settings you have set up, what incomprehensible messages you see on the screen, etc.
How to make screenshots
To create screenshots on any keyboard there is a PrtScrn or PrintScreen key. However, it is not enough to press it to get a ready-made screenshot: with this key you just take the picture itself, and then you need to paste it somewhere. You can use any text editor or Paint program - just launch it and press [Ctrl] + [V] to insert a snapshot. After this, you will only save the file.
There are, however, much more advanced ways of creating screen shots. In Windows, for example, there is a built-in application “Scissors”, which allows you to take a screenshot of the entire screen, window or rectangular area, save it and even add captions to the image. You can find the application by searching in the Start menu or on the initial screen.
In addition, there are many third-party programs for creating screenshots - it is enough to enter the keywords "program for screenshots" in any search engine and choose what you like. And there are browser extensions that allow you to take a screenshot of the entire web page or its fragment - for example, ScreenGrab for Firefox.
