Poltava is a city in central Ukraine. The administrative center of the Poltava region, which is located in the north-east of the country and borders with Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovograd, Cherkasy, Kiev, Chernihiv and Sumy regions.
The city is located on the Dnieper lowland and stands on the Vorskla River. It belongs to the Poltava region, located in the east, not far from Kharkov.
