Who is a bachelor?
The federal law “On Higher and Postgraduate Professional Education” (No. 125-ФЗ), adopted in 1996, established the following levels of higher education in our country: bachelor’s degree, specialist training or magistracy. Not long and confused in these steps and concepts. So who is a bachelor and master?
The new education system is the training of bachelors and masters, however the old system of training specialists has been preserved. Thus, the law determines that to obtain:
- Bachelor's degrees must be trained in school for 4 years.
- Specialist degrees must be trained for at least 5 years.
- Master's degrees are required professional training for 2 years.
So, the bachelor is a degree confirming the receipt of a general higher education. A specialist is a professional qualification that allows you to work in a particular professional area. A master is an expert in a specific scientific field.
In this case, you can study for a master's degree with a bachelor's degree, as well as with a specialist's degree, and not necessarily in your educational institution, but the competition for the magistracy is quite tough. However, the difference in training for a master's degree for bachelor and specialist is great. For the bachelor the magistracy is considered the second stage of higher education, and therefore it is free. And for a specialist, such education is the second highest, and therefore an expert in magistracy will be paid.
The differences between a specialist and a bachelor's degree lie in the fact that in the third year of study, a specialist proceeds to study a particular specialty, while a bachelor's degree is taught in disciplines corresponding to the chosen profession in a broad sense.
The specialist and the master can go on to study further in graduate school. The difference between a specialist and a master’s degree is that a specialist is a practitioner who is taught to work in a particular industry, and a master’s is taught for research.
So, now you know who is a bachelor, master and specialist. When training for bachelor and specialist there are both pluses and minuses, so the choice of the training option, as well as the profession itself, is a very crucial step.
